Imitating the compassionate Christ

Imitating the compassionate Christ

Millions of people have read with awe the signs and wonders performed by a Jewish man nearly 2,000 years ago who was sentenced to death for crimes he did not commit. That world did not show compassion to him. It hated him.

Still, this kind man loved orphans and widows, honored his parents, obeyed the law, stood up for the oppressed, enlightened minds, healed the sick and prayed constantly every day. For sure, he was no ordinary man. The accounts written about him have changed the lives of more people than any other person in history.

One of the things that touches me most about this man was the way he treated others — how humble, thoughtful and reasonable he was — especially in comparison to the pious religious leaders of his day.

When was the Last Supper?

When was the Last Supper?
Written by William Wright

A professor at the University of Cambridge claims Jesus Christ’s Last Supper took place on a Wednesday instead of Thursday and asserts his findings can finally introduce a fixed date for Easter.

Physicist Sir Colin J. Humphreys released his research using biblical, astronomical and historical research to try to pinpoint the timing of Jesus’ final meal with his disciples before his death.

Humphreys claim that while Matthew, Mark and Luke all say the Last Supper coincided with the start of the Jewish festival of Passover, the book by John suggests it took place before Passover.

He asserts in his book, “The Mystery of The Last Supper: Reconstructing the Final Days of Jesus,” that by placing the Last Supper on Wednesday instead of on Passover, Jesus’ arrest, interrogation and separate trials would have occurred over a longer period of time than in one night.

“It is impossible to fit them in between a Thursday evening and Friday morning,” he insisted.

His conclusion is that Jesus died on April 3, and a fixed date for Easter could be set every year on April 5 — a date being used this year. What do you think about this latest theory? Does it make sense that while Matthew, Mark and Luke agree that Jesus’ Last Supper was on Passover night, John would contradict them?

Just because the learned professor cannot fathom how certain events recorded in the gospel accounts took place between Thursday evening and Friday afternoon — should we assume three of the four gospel writers got it wrong?

Blood Moons and Bible prophecy?

Blood Moons and Bible prophecy?

Is science, history and scripture aligning together in a series of four blood moons to fulfil Bible prophecy? Will this mark the long awaited return of Christ and the end of the world?

Getting out of trouble

Perhaps you heard the story about the old farmer’s donkey that fell down into a well. The animal cried for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

After a few vain attempts, the farmer decided the animal was hopelessly stuck and the well needed to be covered up anyway. It just wasn’t worth the time and expense to try to retrieve the poor donkey. So, he invited all his neighbors to come over and help him cover the well with the donkey in it.

Maintaining faith in God

By  Writer William Wright  (June 2015)

Those who do not identify with any religion are now the second-largest group in the United States with nearly 23 percent of the population, according to a new survey from the Pew Research Center.

The Pew Forum on Religion in Public Life reports that the “religiously unaffiliated,” which includes atheists, agnostics, and those who claim “nothing in particular,” now make up 22.8 percent of the American population, up from 16.1 percent in 2007.

Our need for comfort

By William Wright (June 2015)

When people experience prolonged anxiety, grief or other negative emotions due to trials or tribulations, they need comfort.

When people are feeling hopeless and unable to see any way out of a difficult situation, they need comfort.

Comfort can make the difference in a person acting sane or irrational when under prolonged stress.

Make your prayers specific

William Wright (2016):  Make your prayers specific!

A mother hurrying to the pharmacy to get medication for her ailing daughter got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys inside. The woman found an old rusty coat hanger left on the ground. She looked at it, thinking, “I don’t know how to use this.”

She then bowed her head and asked God to please send her some help. Within minutes a bearded man, covered in tattoos, wearing an old biker skull rag pulled up in a beat-up old motorcycle. He got off of his cycle and asked if he could help.

She said: “Yes, my daughter is sick. I’ve locked my keys in my car! I must get home. Please, can you use this hanger to unlock my car?”

He said, “Sure.” He walked over to the car, and in less than a minute the car was open.

She hugged the man and through tears said, “Thank You, God, for sending me such a nice man.”

The man heard her short prayer and replied, “Lady, I am NOT a nice man. I just got out of prison yesterday. I was in prison for car theft.”
The woman hugged the man again, sobbing, “Thank you, God! You even sent me a professional!”
